Research

I am currently a NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the Raimondi-Carr Lab at UC Santa Cruz, where I investigate connections between land and sea, people and place, and social and ecological systems. I aspire to practice rigorous, critical, and solutions-driven scholarship that contributes towards positive change.
Community Ecology
  • How do nutrients, energy, and materials move between marine and terrestrial ecosystems? What processes influence these cross-ecosystem subsidies?
  • How do kelp forests and rocky intertidal ecosystems respond to and recover from human-driven ecosystem change?
Global Change
  • Emissions-driven climate change is reshaping marine and terrestrial ecosystems. How, when, and why are these changes occurring?
  • What are the short- and long-term effects of climatic changes on coastal ecosystem structure and function?
Social-Ecological Systems
  • How do political and economic systems influence ecological and evolutionary dynamics?
  • How do fisheries and ocean governance systems impact long-term resource sustainability and the wellbeing of resource-reliant communities?
